Episode 2: Rivers and Wetlands Under Threat – Challenges and Solutions
Our rivers and wetlands are under threat, but with the right solutions and strong voices advocating for them, we can protect them. In next week’s episode, airing on September 29th, we sit down with Camelia Ionescu, a powerful advocate for freshwater conservation.
Camelia Ionescu is a Freshwater Manager at WWF-Romania. With a career dedicated to championing sustainable water management, she has been a driving force behind WWF’s ecological restoration efforts since 2007. Her work has focused on the degraded wetlands of the Danube basin and the Danube Delta, benefiting not only nature but also the local communities who depend on these fragile environments.
In this conversation, Camelia provides a unique perspective on river and wetland restoration from one of the world’s largest conservation organizations. We take a closer look at the specific challenges and solutions in the Lower Danube and the Danube Delta, exploring the critical work being done to reverse years of degradation and what it takes to restore our most essential waterways.
