About the Open Call

The EU funded project iMERMAID has launched its first Open Call for local and regional authorities, titled: “Extended Demonstration of iMERMAID solutions in associated regions of the Mediterranean.” The applicants are welcomed to apply with their own use-case addressing their specific challenges and objectives, aligning with the goals of iMERMAID and with the aim to  identify suitable solutions coming from the iMERMAID project that will support their chemical monitoring and remediation activities. The provided funding should support the beneficiaries to prepare roadmaps, plans, and projects to prevent, eliminate, and remediate pollution from chemicals of emerging concern (CoEC), addressing possible barriers and showing the feasibility of implementing the iMERMAID innovative solutions.

Timeline

Applications can be submitted until the 17th of September, 17.00 CEST (Brussels time) through the iMERMAID submission page (hosted by F6S). The evaluation and selection process will take place between September and October 2024, following the procedure outlined in the iMERMAID Annex 1 Guidelines for Applicants, available on the open call webpage. Contracts will be finalized in November, with project implementation scheduled from December 2024 to August 2025.

About iMERMAID Project

iMERMAID stands for  Innovative solutions for Mediterranean Ecosystem Remediation via Monitoring and decontamination from Chemical Pollution. The project will integrate, coordinate and synergise innovative solutions that prevent, monitor and remediate against chemical contaminants. It will construct a multidimensional framework, underpinning policymaking and altering societal perspectives. Cutting-edge sensors and remediation methods will be advanced, tackling contaminants at their source while curbing upstream pollution. By bringing together SMEs, researchers, regulators and innovation professionals, iMERMAID aims to strengthen regulations, boost economic prospects, enhance EU residents’ quality of life and, ultimately, create contaminant-free waters in the Mediterranean.
