River-Floodplain Ecosystem: A diverse river-floodplain system encompasses numerous side arms, backwaters, and lush floodplain forests spanning an impressive 54,000 hectares. This exceptional area holds the distinction of being a Bi(Tri)lateral Ramsar site, recognized and protected for its ecological significance at the international level. Furthermore, it is designated as a key Natura 2000 site within the European Union, underscoring its importance in preserving Europe’s natural heritage.
